WELCOME BACK TO TERM 4!
Welcome back to what’s always one of the busiest terms of the year! With so much happening across classrooms, events and end-of-year activities, it’s important to stay connected and informed.
Keep an eye on our school Facebook page and newsletter for all updates and reminders throughout the term.
A reminder that class teachers remain your first point of contact for any classroom matters, learning concerns, or questions about your child’s progress.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic finish to the school year!
OUTDOOR LEARNING AREA (OLA) NEARING COMPLETION
We’re excited to be approaching the completion of our new Outdoor Learning Area (OLA). The space has transformed from a garden into a beautiful area for collaboration, outdoor learning, and creative exploration.
There are still a few finishing touches to come — including the seat tops for the stools — but it’s already taking shape as a truly inspiring space for our students. Keep an eye out for when the fences come down!
Kind Regards
Jonas Shantz
Principal

WELCOME TO TERM 4
We welcome all of our returning and new families to Term 4. Term 4 always goes quickly and we have lots of exciting things for our students to engage with before the 2025 school year is over. Remember to stay up to date by checking our newsletter, Facebook page and school website.
SWIMMING
The pool is looking fantastic with swimming/water safety lessons commencing next week for Prep-Year 6 students, during your child’s HPE Lesson. Each class will swim for 4 weeks (1hr per session). Please note water safety lessons are part of the school curriculum and as a result all students are expected to participate fully in these lessons.
It is important that your child attends their scheduled swimming time, so we can best support water competence and safety for all. The school pool is heated, so the water temperature will always be comfortable for swimming, enabling for an enjoyable experience for your child.
Students will need to bring the following for swimming: bathers, rash shirt, swimming cap, towel (optional: goggles). During swimming sessions, we will provide for them a bright coloured cap to put over their own swimming cap to assist with easy identification in the pool.
If you are able to assist, please register through the SOBS booking system on our school website. Spots are limited, so please register early, so you don’t miss out. Please see below the schedule where help is required.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to a wonderful term of swimming.
BEFORE SCHOOL PROCESSES REMINDER
Parents, just a reminder that at Wondall we expect all students to be lining up in the Arena before the bell goes at 8:45am. Teachers are busy planning their day and preparing lessons for your child. Please support us with this process as it allows for consistency and a calm start for your child. It also means no students should be playing on equipment or roaming around the school. Help us keep your kids safe.

NEWS FROM 2C
In Term 4, the Year 2s will be writing an imaginative text about a familiar character. Though we are just beginning to get started, last term students used a stimulus about an Alien to show what we already knew about narratives, such as characters, settings, problems, and resolutions. Students will draw on what we have already covered this year about noun groups, verb groups, precise language and sentence variety in order to create an engaging story. To inspire us while writing, everyone drew their main character and received a sticker to spark ideas for a secondary character!
Do you have a younger sibling ready to start Prep next year?
or
Do you know of family/friends/neighbours that have children who live in the Wondall Heights SS school catchment zone ready to start Prep in 2026?
If you do… we are putting a call out to enrol your child at Wondall Heights State School ASAP so they don’t miss out on invitations to our exciting transition events, which have now commenced.
Call the office now on 3906 6444.
Positive Behaviour For Learning
PBL- WEEKS 1 & 2 RESET AND RECONNECT
Wondall staff spend the first 2 weeks of each term re-teaching the expected behaviours and routines for our students. We remind them of what being safe, respectful and responsible looks like across all areas of the school. Our PBL Captains will be out and about taking videos and interviewing students about everything PBL over the next week and into the term.
We look forward to seeing our students reach their next Dougie Stamp reward and we are so close to hitting out whole school Dougie Dollar Target!
Our Dougie shop (Relocated to outside music room) is open every Friday at 1st break for students to collect their vouchers.
BOOK FAIR
Book fair is arriving in our Library next week! Classes will book in a time during the week to visit our Fair to browse the books for sale and create their Wish List. Students can also visit Book Fair before school (8:15-8:45am) and after school (3-3:30pm), and during break times to make purchases. Parents are also welcome to visit before and after school.
Book Fair will be open for sales on the following dates: before school
(8:15-8:45am), after school (3:00-3:30pm) and during breaks
· Wednesday 15 October
· Thursday 16 October
· Friday 17 October
· Monday 20 October
Payment for the purchase of books can be made in person at Book Fair or online at scholastic.com.au/payment. Once payment has been made online, the back of the Wishlist or Book Fair flier needs to be completed including the titles paid for, the receipt number, the amount paid and contact details of the payee using blue or black pen. That payment record is then presented by students at the Book Fair, and they will receive the titles.
Some Book Fair titles are always popular, and the available stock can sell quickly. Extra copies will be ordered for students wanting to purchase them, and they usually arrive at school 1-2 weeks after Book Fair closes.
Please remember, posters and novelty items cannot be paid online and should be purchased at Book Fair. These items are also available only through Book Fair at school and cannot be ordered for delivery once they have sold out.
LIFE EDUCATION TALK ABOUT IT

PREP – YEAR 6 SWIMMING LESSONS
Water safety lessons will commence this term for all Prep-Year 6 students, during your child’s HPE Lesson. Each class will swim for 4 weeks (1hr per session). Please note water safety lessons are part of the school curriculum and as a result all students are expected to participate fully in these lessons. If your child is unable to swim for a lesson, a note explaining student’s absence is required. Students who this applies to, will then be directed to another classroom for supervision during the pool lesson. It is important that your child attends their scheduled swimming time, so we can best support water competence and safety for all. The school pool is heated, so the water temperature will always be comfortable for swimming, enabling for an enjoyable experience for your child.
Now would also be a great time to check that your child has the required equipment for lessons:
· Swimmers (1 piece for girls, half tight/full tight/shorts for boys), sun shirt (short or long sleeve), swimming cap (red – these may be purchased from the School Uniform Shop) Please avoid dark coloured/blue items of clothing for the pool- the brighter the better! Please clearly name all gear.
· A friendly reminder to please ensure your child has removed all jewellery before their lesson.
These lessons will be led by Mrs B (HPE Teacher) and supported by our school staff. Volunteers are most welcome to assist too. All volunteers will be required to complete the MAST induction, if they have not already done so. If not a parent, in addition to this you will also require a blue card. Recommended attire for helpers, long sleeve shirt, shorts over togs, hats and lots of sunscreen.
Please note that active supervision of our swimmers will be required at all times. Unfortunately, this means that younger siblings will not be permitted to attend. Only children who are scheduled for their lesson will be allowed to enter the pool. We appreciate your understanding with this request.
If you are able to assist, please register through the SOBS booking system on our school website. Spots are limited, so please register early, so you don’t miss out. Please see below the schedule where help is required.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to a wonderful term of swimming.
YEARS 4-6 INTRA-SCHOOL SPORT
