CAMP QUALITY CANCER EDUCATION PROGRAM SCHOOL VISIT
Camp Quality’s cancer education program has been teaching kids about cancer with a fun and interactive puppet performance, for over 33 years. The program focuses on telling the broader cancer story, including how to support someone who is facing their own cancer diagnosis or that of a loved one.
The free Cancer Education Program visits primary schools and education and care services around Australia, and is shown to reduce bullying, absenteeism and the need for mental health support services for kids impacted by cancer.
We are pleased to welcome the program to our school for the delivery of their free awareness presentations to our students on Friday 6 December.
The attached brochure has detailed information on the content to be covered.
If you DO NOT want your child to participate in this program, please advise their class teacher.
School support staff including our Guidance Officer and Chaplain will attend sessions. We also welcome parents to attend and hear the message during relevant sessions if you would like.

PREPARING FOR 2025 CLASSES
It is at this time of year; we begin to receive parent requests for their child’s class placement for next year. We want to share the following overview of the process we as educational professionals go through in constructing our classes and developing our class structures. When classes are being developed, we draw on the professional knowledge of staff (class, inclusion, specialist teachers and the leadership team) having worked with your child throughout the year.
- Each individual student is reviewed based on their academic, social, behavioural and learning needs.
- All students have been asked to identify a number of friends they feel they work well with and whom would support with their learning- these are collated and considered to ensure a student has at least one identified peer in their future class.
- Class teachers, inclusion teachers and specialists come together and place students into potential classes.
- The peer dynamics are continually reviewed based on the students in the class.
- Classes are reviewed multiple times and right up to the start of the new year.
- External considerations e.g: from parents are considered- these are not guaranteed.
As in 2024, we will have multi-age classes in 2025 based on student numbers and departmental staffing allocations. Our teachers are very skilful in delivering the Australian Curriculum and the above considerations are also put in place in constructing these classes.
A new year of learning, also brings new opportunities to learn from different teachers, make new friends and interact with different peer groupings. These are lifelong skills which build independence, confidence and resilience.
Whilst we recognise that parents might have information regarding placement of their child with other children, we do not accept requests for placement with specific teachers or not to be placed in a multi-age class, further not all requests are guaranteed.
2025 STUDENT RESOURCE SCHEME
At the P&C meeting held 19 November, our 2025 Student Resource Scheme was endorsed. The Student Resource Scheme only applies to Instrumental Music.
The endorsed SRS will be:
- Participation in the program $40 (all students involved in the program to pay).
- Participation in the instrument hire scheme $40 (only charged to students who need to use a school instrument).
The full details and inclusions of the scheme will be provided in the consent information provided to 2025 instrumental students.
2025 BOOKLISTS AND STATIONERY CHECKLISTS
In an effort to minimise costs for parents, this week your child will be given a checklist of items they still have at school. This will help provide parents with an indication of the condition of retainable items (e.g., headphones) and highlight any excess materials that can be reused in the upcoming year.
Please find the links to the 2025 Booklists, below. You are welcome to take the list to your preferred provider. Many providers will shop and package the booklist for you. This year, we have also registered the booklists with Officeworks, for your convenience, should you wish to use their packing service.
2025 Booklists are STARTER BOOKLISTS only. If additional items are required throughout the school year due to loss or consumption, your child’s class teacher will provide you with a replacement list.
Please note:
- In providing school-wide accessibility to iPads and laptops, at no cost to parents, we are using programs that assist students with their accessibility to learning. One of the features we are using is the speech to text and recording facilities of the devices. For optimised potential, we are asking families to provide the child/ren with a decent set of wired headphones with a boom microphone and conventional 5 mm jack. Please see the picture provided on the booklist for an example of what is required.
- To accommodate for handwriting and synthetic phonics, you may notice an increase in whiteboard markers, as students increasingly use their whiteboards for these learning activities.
- We have added extra books to accommodate for specialist lessons.
- Prior to the end of the 2024 school year, your child will bring home a Stationery Inventory Form to give you an indication of the condition of retainable items and excess materials that can be used in 2025.
- Brands listed are an example, for your reference. The school accepts alternative similar brands.
- Please ensure exercise books have the correct ruling and are suited for the year level required.
- ALL ITEMS are to be labelled and brought to school on the first day of the 2025 school year.
Booklists can now be found for 2025 on our school website.

Positive Behaviour for Learning
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)- Wondall Learners are respectful when they follow instructions.
Following instructions the first time helps us save time, show responsibility and promotes teamwork. Responding politely creates a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere, fostering effective communication and cooperation. Respecting others' right to learn ensures that everyone feels safe, valued, and able to focus on their studies.
