ANZAC DAY 2025
On Thursday we held our whole school commemorative service in the lead up to ANZAC Day. We thank our guest speaker Michael from the RSL for reminding us all to live by the ANZAC Spirit not just on ANZAC Day, but every day. Thanks to Mrs Cocciolone our organiser and all of our students for their outstanding behaviour and engagement.
Thank you to those families and staff who joined us on Friday for the community ANZAC Day March with the Manly-Lota RSL. Many families braved the weather conditions and participated in this service, as we came together to remember.
FRIDAY SPORTS
Year 4-6 Interschool Sports commence this Friday with students participating in soccer, touch football or netball. A reminder to parents, that students will not be released from the venue unless prior authorisation has been received via the office, this must be at least 24 hours notice, so staff are aware and our records can be updated.
Please be aware with Friday sports, the STOP, DROP & GO facility will be SHUT to vehicles from 11:30am until all buses return at the end of the day (scheduled before 3pm).
We ask for your patience and seeking alternative parking to ensure the safety of our students.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
School photos will be in Week 6, Term 2 – 27 and 28 May. Envelopes will be sent home shortly and will need to be returned on your child’s photo day. If you did not respond to the numerous requests from the school on consent update, your child will not be eligible to have their photo taken or names included.
APPROPRIATE PARKING AND ADMIN CARPARK
Parking in accordance with all road rules and signage is important to keep our children and other road users safe. Unfortunately, there has been an increase in the number of reports of illegal parking around the school to Brisbane City Council. As a result, our school has been added to Council’s School Zone Enforcement Program.
What does this mean?
Council’s Parking Compliance Officers will be actively patrolling the streets surrounding the school over the coming term to encourage safe parking behaviours. These patrols will be conducted in a Mobile Enforcement Vehicle or by an officer on foot. Please be kind – they have a job to do.
What are the common parking signs around schools?
A guide to common parking signs around school zones can be found here: https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/traffic-and-transport/parking-in-brisbane/where-to-park/school-parking
Admin Carpark is not a designated drop off area. Staff have had many near misses with students whose parents are dropping them off and/or letting them run through the Admin carpark. Please use the STOP, DROP and GO for this. Further we ask that parents on drop off for WOSHC do not park in the reserved car parks for our school administration team.
PUBLIC HOLIDAY
Monday 5 May (Labour Day), Wondall Heights SS is CLOSED.
