FOCUS ON ENGLISH IMPROVEMENT
Our commitment to improving student outcomes in English and reading continues to be a key priority. Teaching teams have engaged in focused data conversations with the leadership team, unpacking class-level achievement data to identify trends and areas for targeted support.
Through our case management process, teachers are identifying students requiring additional support or extension, sharing successful strategies, and discussing next steps when strategies don’t yield the desired results. This collaborative approach ensures that no student slips through the cracks and that our practice remains responsive and evidence-based.
Research consistently shows that when teachers work together, student outcomes improve.
HELP SHAPE OUR SCHOOL'S STORY
I believe a strong school culture starts with shared values and a clear sense of purpose. As we continue to shape our school’s future, we want to hear from you — our parent and carer community.
I am inviting all families to participate in a short survey to share what you value most about education, and the words you feel best reflect the spirit and identity of Wondall Heights State School.
Click here for a quick survey.

Your feedback will help us better understand what matters to our community and guide how we communicate our shared vision and values.
OUTDOOR LEARNING AREA (OLA) CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Exciting changes are happening outside the library as construction continues on our new Outdoor Learning Area (OLA). This space is being transformed into a dynamic learning environment where students will be able to work collaboratively at outdoor tables, engage in small group discussions, and enjoy presentations in the amphitheatre-style seating.
While the final design may differ slightly from the concept drawings, they offer an exciting glimpse into what’s to come. We are hopeful that construction will be completed in time for students to enjoy the new space at the start of Term 4.
This project would not be possible without the generous support of our incredible P&C, who have played a major role in bringing this vision to life. Their ongoing contributions ensure all students — current and future — benefit from enhanced learning environments.
The P&C is a vital part of what makes Wondall Heights such a fantastic school. We encourage families to consider joining. Meetings are held in Weeks 3 and 8 each term on Tuesdays at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome!
WOSHC DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP SAFETY IN STAFF CARPARK
Please exercise caution when using the top car park for WOSHC drop-off before 7:30am and pick-up after 3:45pm. We have had several near misses and wish to ensure the safety of all students and families.
A few important reminders:
- Do not cut through the car park. Please use the designated pedestrian gates at all times
- Respect all reserved parking spaces
Additionally, in the coming weeks, repairs will be taking place on the boom gate and large gates.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping our school safe.
Yours in Education,
Jonas Shantz
Principal

NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA
Each year, all Australian schools engage in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD counts the number of students at school receiving adjustments due to disability and records the level of support they require. This includes students with social-emotional difficulties or learning difficulties like dyslexia as well as a broad range of other disabilities which impact on access to schooling. The Australian Government provides funding to schools to support these students based on the NCCD.
We are currently collating our data to ensure we comprehensively capture the needs of all students who benefit from additional support to access and participate in school life at Wondall. For more information on the NCCD, please refer to the attached fact sheet. As always, feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
SCHOOL OPINION SURVEY
Wondall Heights State School is an amazing school, with great students, staff, parents and community! We are proud of our school and the progress we continue to make in enriching the learning opportunities for our students, your children.
Thank you to all of those who have already completed and returned your Parent/Caregiver Survey emailed in the week beginning the 21 July. If you have not had a chance to complete the survey yet, please note that the survey is due by Friday, 22 August 2025. This is your opportunity to provide feedback about what our school does well and how we can improve to help shape our school’s future.
Can’t find your survey invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
UNDER EIGHT’S DAY
Our Under 8’s Celebration will be Friday 8 August 2025 from 9:00-10:30am. We hope to see P-2 families there!
REMINDER BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL
A reminder and we ask for the support of all parents and carers; playground use before and after school should not occur, even with parent supervision, as is the waiting outside classrooms (before school). Playground spaces are licenced to our Before and After School Care for their use at these times. Before school, students arriving before the bell are to wait at the front of the office and then move as directed by the supervising staff member to the Arena. As the bell approaches, students are released to move to their classes.
For parents wishing to give their child free play before or after school, we encourage the use of local council parks and play spaces.
