Welcome
Hello and welcome to Term 4! I would like to extend my thanks to the Wondall community for the warm welcome I have already received. I am excited to join Wondall Heights State School as Principal and continue the journey of academic, sporting and cultural success.
Over the coming weeks, I look forward to the opportunity of meeting our community and importantly learning about the school, its operations and developing positive relationships with our learners, staff and parents.
2021 Enrolments and Intentions
As we enter into Term 4, we're planning for our 2021 school year, our class composition and staffing allocation. To this extent, we ask that families please contact the office on 3906 6444 or email admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au for:
- 2021 Enrolments (all year levels)
- Notification if your family (excluding year 6 students) are NOT returning in 2021.
COVID Operating Guidelines
As a school, our number one priority is ensuring the safety of our students, staff and wider community. We continue to implement our COVID safe practices based on the advice of Queensland Health and Education Queensland. These documents are freely available from https://qed.qld.gov.au/about-us/news-and-media/novel-coronavirus/covid-19-operating-guidelines-for-queensland-state-schools
In line with the operating guidelines, some of our ‘normal’ activities have had to either be modified or cancelled, the intention with all of this comes back to safety and is paramount at the current time. We ask for your understanding and support as we continue to work through these different times.
Importantly, we ask that:
- Adult access to the school is limited to essential purposes only. Parents are not to enter classrooms.
- If you need to speak with a staff member, please call the office or email the staff member to make suitable arrangements.
- General enquiries are welcome to the parent window at the Administration Block.
- Do not enter the school if you are unwell.
- Please monitor your child’s health and if they are unwell, do not send them to school.
- Ensure that social distancing is maintained including 1.5m between adults and limiting physical contact.
Together, we can do our bit to keep Wondall and our greater community healthy.
Regards
Mark Wright

Thank you to Mr Palmer for his wonderful work on this and thank you to our featured prep students… very cute!!

The 2020 Student Engagement and Wellbeing Survey pilot will be conducted later this term
Later this term, students in Year 4 and Year 5 will be asked to participate in a Student Engagement and Wellbeing Survey. We know that wellbeing and engagement are important parts of your child’s life at school. Our school, and the department, want to support students in the best way possible and are looking at improved ways to accurately collect information on these important topics.
The Student Engagement and Wellbeing Survey pilot is a new tool designed to measure how Queensland students view aspects of their wellbeing and engagement. Results from this survey will provide an indication of our students’ levels of wellbeing and engagement, allowing us to determine how we can best support our students and meet their needs.
This is the first pilot of the survey and is only available to select schools across Queensland. The survey is voluntary and will take students approximately 30 minutes to complete during class time. A parent information letter will be sent out later this term.
What is the survey about?
The survey measures many aspects of students’ wellbeing, engagement and experience at school. It includes questions about resilience, school climate, sense of belonging, motivation and perseverance, academic self-concept, personal social capabilities, general life satisfaction, future outlook and aspirations, relationships with peers, with teachers and at home, and general health.
