Welcome to Term 4
We welcome all of our returning and new families to Term 4. This term is 10 weeks in duration with 10 December, the last day of the school year. Don’t forget that Friday 29 October is a Public Holiday and the school will be closed.
COVID Update
As you would be aware Stage 2 Restrictions are in place for a number of Local Government Areas of Brisbane City, Moreton Bay, Gold Coast, Logan, Townsville and Palm Island.
At school we ask that you follow all signage, maintain your physical distancing and do not enter the school grounds if you are unwell.
Who needs to wear a face mask while at school?
When COVID-19 restrictions are in place that include mandatory wearing of face masks, all high school students regardless of age, staff and visitors, including parents, carers, family members, volunteers and contractors, are required to wear a face mask when on school premises or when travelling on dedicated school transport*. There is no requirement for a student under 12 years of age (unless they are in high school) to wear a face mask, but if they wish to do so, they will be supported. Further information regarding the wearing of face masks is available in the school operations information page.
Masks are to be worn by all staff in both the corporate and school settings and all high school students when indoors, even where physical distancing is possible. We ask that all parents entering the school grounds comply with the current restrictions.
Forgotten your mask? The office will be able to provide you with a disposable mask whilst on the school grounds.
Queensland Health advises that children aged 12 years and older can receive a Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at a Queensland Health vaccination location or at a participating General Practice (GP). In the very near future, you will be able to access Moderna (Spikevax) vaccine at a participating community pharmacy.
For more information about the COVID-19 vaccine and children, please visit Queensland Health’s website for children, young people and parents (https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/protect-yourself-others/covid-19-vaccine/information-for/young-people?fbclid=IwAR0Im8Fd6taqDM6XNG-ZYULLSlVJR0_3vwh3jkpG-1ak2Y9bTQgPGvqxac4). General information about the vaccine is also available in multiple languages (https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/covid-19-vaccine-information-in-your-language).

Holiday Works
Over the holidays K Block (classrooms for 1D and 1E) received new flooring as part of our ongoing school enhancementsStudent Bubblers- our Student Council have used funds raised to purchase bubblers on the back of I Block. These will be available for students to use on the Senior Oval with perfect timing as we come into the warmer months.
PPP Cybersafety Parent information session
Save the date for a free parent information session on Cyberbullying, presented by Triple P. Tuesday 16 November 3.15 to 4.45pm – all welcome. This session will be particularly important for families in our upper school to attend, as students become more engaged with online social media platforms.
2022 Booklists
Booklists will be distributed shortly. In preparation for booklist ordering for 2022, your child will bring home a Stationery Inventory Form in the next couple of weeks to give you an indication of the condition of retainable items (e.g. headphones) and excess materials that can be used the following year. We hope this helps to reduce the costs of ordering from the booklists moving into 2022.

When we’re tired and stressed, the little things can often feel like the last straw. The straw that broke…well you know how it goes. It’s great to have a toolbox of strategies on hand so why not stick our ‘Stop, Reset, Respond’ poster up on the fridge as a gentle reminder to take a breath before responding.
