Returning of School Resources
As the school year draws to a close, please check your bookshelves at home for any school library or general resources. Please return these to the school ASAP, so we can prepare for end of year stocktaking.
Prep Transitioning

We are still taking in-catchment enrolments, please contact the school office ASAP if you plan for your child to attend Wondall Heights SS, but you haven’t filled in an enrolment pack yet.
Just a reminder that Wondall Heights State School is collecting Transition Statements to help us best support your child in Prep in 2022. Parents will need to provide consent to Kindergartens for the Transition Statements to be shared. Transition Statements can be emailed to the school directly to admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au or brought directly to the school office.

Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival
Our Year 3-6 Swimming Carnival is scheduled for Thursday 2 December. Unfortunately, due to space we will not be having parent spectators at this year’s event. Students are able to purchase tuckshop online and it will be delivered to the pool on this day.
Report Cards
Semester 2 reports will be emailed home on Wednesday 8 December. Please ensure your email address on our school records is correct prior to this date.
Active School Travel – We’re In!
Our school has been selected as one of 13 new schools joining Brisbane City Council’s Active School Travel (AST) program in 2022.
Active School Travel promotes clean and green, active and healthy school travel modes such as walking, cycling, scootering, carpooling and public transport. Over the next three years, our school will receive a range of free resources, tools, incursions from Council to enable active travel to and from school.
By choosing to actively travel to school, at least one day a week on our active travel day, we can reduce traffic congestion at the school gate, improve our students’ road safety awareness, create a cleaner environment, and improve our health and fitness! Or if you have to drive, park the car away from the school and actively travel the rest of the way. That’s Park & Stride.
More details to come early next year, and we strongly encourage you to be part of this great initiative to change our school environment and culture.
Start thinking how you can use your car less travelling to and from school next year.
2022 Enrolments
We are working to finalise our arrangements for 2022. If your family is NOT returning (Prep-Year5) please contact the office to advise of this so we can factor this in our planning. If you know of a neighbour or have family and friends within our catchment and they not yet enrolled their child for 2022, please also have them contact the office.
Positive Behaviour for Learning- Belinda Uhlman
PBL Up-date
A fantastic Dougie Rewards Session was had by all in Week 5. Students were rotated through various activities organised be their amazing classroom teachers. Everything from outdoor games, to ‘Just Dance’ to creating amazing art pieces! The students had a great Friday afternoon and were able to celebrate their safe, respectful and responsible choices by having fun with their peers and teachers!
What will our last Dougie Rewards Session be for the year? We hear it will be amazing………!
Our PBL focus for this fortnight is “Wondall Learners are RESPONSIBLE for their own actions”. This will be a focus both in the classroom and in the playground. The purpose of this focus is to increase students’ awareness that they are responsible for their own actions. They will be taught strategies around managing their own behaviours and reactions to the behaviours of others.
Students will be encouraged to STOP, THINK and then ACT when they find themselves in a challenging situation. They will be learning to:
STOP - give yourself thinking time, what is your body telling you? What emotion are you feeling? What zone are you in?
THINK - what is an appropriate response? Walk away, use kind words, ignore, ask for help, focus on the task at hand?
ACT - act upon your choice; understand that your ACTIONS are the way YOU act, and that is YOUR responsibility.
