Thank You
On behalf of our entire school staff I want to thank all of our students, families, P&C and community members for your support of Wondall Heights State School in 2021. It has been a busy year of learning with some unfortunate challenges posed with the ongoing health situation, however these have yet again been overcome with the support of everyone.
I want to particularly thank the school staff for the way that they have managed the changing school year, with the priority remaining on student learning and wellbeing.
Staff Farewells
The end of the year sees a number of our staff either transferring, finishing their contracts, taking leave or retiring. We wish them well in 2022 and beyond. Thank you for your contributions to Wondall Heights during your time at the school and the positive impacts you have had on our community.
Year 6 Graduation
On Tuesday 7 December we will hold our Year 6 graduation for students and their two nominated guests commencing at 5:30pm. It is a ticketed event being held in our school. Tickets will be coming home with your Year 6 child today. We wish our graduating class well and know they will continue to ‘Strive to Excel’.
Report Cards

Student report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday 8 December. Please ensure your email address is current in the front office to receive this. admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au
End of Year Celebrations
To mark the end of the school year, classes will hold their own ‘break up day’ events on Thursday 9 December. For this, we ask that parents arrange food suitable for your own child/ren to consume. It will not be shared food.

Thursday 9 December is Free Dress- students are to wear sun safe clothing and must have a broad brim hat with closed in shoes.
Friday 10 December students are to wear either formal or sports uniform.
At this time of the year, students like to share the Christmas cheer with their friends and they are welcome to engage in this, but we ask that only cards are given out. Please do not send lollies or confectionery eg- candy canes. We have students with a range of different food/dietary allergies and requirements and the school will not be responsible for oversight of these confectionery items.
Gifts- whilst families may like to give staff an end of year present as a generous thanks to staff, we do have departmental policies around these and staff cannot accept gifts in excess of $150 or any cash/lottery items.
Class Arrangements in 2022.
With an anticipated enrolment of 640 students next year, we will have 27 classes. These will consist of straight classes and also a 2/3 multilevel class. The teachers and leadership team have spent considerable time this term constructing classes which consider the needs of all students. A reminder that requests for a particular teacher will not be accepted.
Students will be introduced to their 2022 teachers during the ‘Step Up’ session on Wednesday 8 December. We are excited this year to also welcome our 2022 preps who will also participate in this afternoon.
Medication
Remember to collect your child’s medication from the office before the holidays. All medication is to be collected by an adult. If your child will require medication in 2022 please check the expiry dates before bringing medications back to school and complete the required documentation for the medication to be administered.
Donations
WOSHC is also looking for donations of colouring pencils and pens – used or new. If you have any spare, please deliver directly to the WOSHC building. Thank you!
