School Opinion Survey
Earlier this year, parents, students and staff were asked to share their opinions on a range of questions relating to our school. Thanks to all those who completed the survey. Over the coming term, we will be unpacking the results, so we can continue to make Wondall a great school! Below are some of our survey highlights. It is great to see a common alignment particularly in our high scoring category of ‘students are expected to do their best’, achieved in all three survey categories.Australia will celebrate the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 28 October 2022.
Our teachers have shown great resilience during challenging times, all so they can give Australian students the best future possible. Hats off to teachers this World Teachers’ Day!
Share your “hats off” selfie to our Wondall Facebook page on Friday 28 October to celebrate our teachers and tell us what they mean to you.

Swimming
Our lessons have started this week in the pool and we extend our thanks to all of the parent helpers, who have already nominated. If you are able to assist with a session of supervision, please contact Mr Bloxsom.
A reminder that:
- swimming is part of the curriculum and all students should be swimming (talk with your child’s teacher if there are concerns)
- students need to bring: bathers, rash shirt, swimming cap, towel (optional: googles/board shorts).
Day for Daniel
Day for Daniel is a National Day of Action hosted by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) to raise awareness of child safety, protection and harm prevention. Held on the last Friday of October each year, it is about educating children and adults about keeping kids safe through child safety and protection initiatives. 'Wear Red and Educate' is the theme for the day.
The objectives of Day for Daniel are:
- to educate children regarding their personal safety and empower them to 'Recognise, React and Report' when they feel something is not right.
- to raise awareness about child safety and protection, and to promote a safer community for children.
- to educate and equip individuals and communities with knowledge and skills to understand child safety and protection requirements and empower them to take action.
- to honour the memory of Daniel Morcombe.
Wondall will be recognising Day for Daniel on Friday 28 October and will be inviting students and staff to wear a red shirt (hair accessories also ok) on this day. We will also be hosting a Day for Daniel Walk as part of our Active School Travel program. Please see details in the poster, attached.

Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL Focus Term 4 Weeks 3 and 4 - Respect
Our PBL focus for Weeks 3 and 4 is, ‘Wondall Learners respect others by using kind and polite words’. The objective of this focus is to increase kind and respectful language amongst peers.
As a class, students identified places in the community where respectful language is required for example; working in an office, schools, shops, hospitals, takeaway food venues and the movies. Students then made a list of polite and kind words used in the classroom and other settings in the school and in the community.
To support the teaching of this focus students have watched the following clips.
Prep – Year 6

Students are being encouraged to consider the words they use at different times throughout the day. Teachers will be giving out Dougie dollars to those demonstrating respect through the use of polite and kind words.
