Term 1 Learning Wrap Up
Term 1 has flown by and now it is time to reflect on the term that was.
- We have a school enrolment of 628 students in 27 classes.
- Our whole school attendance is sitting at 94%! We look forward to maintaining this high level of attendance in Term 2.
- Our new prep students have settled into their learning and are enjoying all that Wondall has to offer.
- All of our students have demonstrated being ACE (attending, confident and engaged) learners with a strong focus on being Safe, Responsible and Respectful.
- Our P&C has supported our school with generous donations of funds raised which has seen the purchase of 100 new Ipads
P&C Executive
On behalf of our school community, we thank our P&C committee for their contributions in 2022. 2022 was a significantly successful year for our P&C which has seen the school community supported with different events, fundraisers and donations to our school. On 14 March, the Annual General Meeting was held and we thanked the outgoing executive, whilst electing positions for 2023. I am pleased to announce the 2023 elected members:

Learning Celebration
Parents are invited to visit their children’s classrooms this afternoon, Wednesday 22 March between 2:30pm-3pm. Each class will have something different to share, but students will be highlighting their learning from this term!
Parent Teacher Interviews
Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 28 March, from 3:30pm – 8:00pm in the Hall. Entry to interviews will be via the foyer and exit via the opposite side (carpark side).
There is no supervision provided for children.
Bookings will be via SOBS (our online booking system) from Monday, 13 March 6am and will close Sunday, 26 March at 6pm. SOBs can be accessed via the school’s website under Quick Links.
Harmony Week
Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. This year Harmony Week is celebrated 20-26 March 2023.
It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
We invite our school community to wear an ORANGE shirt or accessory on Friday 24 March and to join us at our Harmony Week Park’n’Stride.
Holiday Works
Over these holidays, our yarning circle is being installed. We look forward to the opportunity of using this space for both communication and learning experiences.
ANZAC March
On ANZAC Day, Tuesday 25 April, Wondall Heights State School has been invited to participate in the community march from Manly State School to Richard Russell Park.
Students are required to meet outside Manly State School, Earnest Street Manly at 7:45am for an 8am start. There will be a sign for Wondall, we are generally towards the back. Parents are welcome to march with their child. Wondall staff will also be in attendance. At the conclusion of the ceremony parents are to collect their child from a Wondall staff member.
Please ensure students are wearing their full school formal uniform and their school hat.
Happy Holidays
With Term 1 concluding on 31 March, we wish our Wondall community a relaxing and safe holiday period. School resumes Monday 17 April.

Free School Holiday ‘LEARN TO RIDE’ Workshops
Riding’s more fun on two wheels!
As part of Wondall Heights State School’s participation in the Active School Travel (AST) program, Brisbane City Council is offering free learn to ride workshops exclusive to students at our school!
Sessions will be held on Wednesday 5 April at Cox Park (Lota Park) and are available to Prep – Year 2 students to help them transition from training wheels to two wheels. Young riders who are already off training wheels are welcome too. A parent/carer must be present and assist their child during the session.

Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL Focus Weeks 9 and 10 – Wondall Learners are safe when they play by the rules
Students are revisiting the rules of games played by their year level and developing strategies to use when the game may not be going well.
They will discuss:
- Games played during breaks
- Rules for those games.
- Rules will be displayed where students are able to refer to these if they are needed e.g. entry into their classroom.
Identify strategies to use when the game may not be going well.
