TERM 1 WRAP UP
Term 1 has flown by and now it is time to reflect on the term that was.
- Our new prep students have settled into their learning and are enjoying all that Wondall has to offer.
- Our whole school attendance is sitting at 92.7%! We look forward to maintaining this high level of attendance in Term 2.
- We have implemented the whole school teaching of systemic phonics in all Prep-Year 6 classes, with just 1 fulltime class teacher to be trained next term!
- The role out of 1:1 devices to support learning, free of charge to students in Years 2-6.
- All of our students have demonstrated being ACE (attending, confident and engaged) learners, with a strong focus on being Safe, Responsible and Respectful.
- Positive learning environments where all students have engaged with their term learning which has included some in/excursions.
- Some great cultural and sporting achievements of students including the recent School’s with Pools competition where Wondall took out first place.
- The creative play space ‘Dougie’s Den’ opened for Year 3-6 students during breaks. In Term 2, we will be rolling out a P-2 activity space for students, so stay tuned!
We look forward to continuing successful learning and engagement in Term 2!
Thank you to all of the parents/family members who have supported in classrooms this term with reading groups and also in swimming lessons. We appreciate the time you have been able to dedicate to supporting our students!
LEARNING CELEBRATIONS and PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
It was great to welcome parents and other significant family members to our recent Learning Celebration open afternoon last week and also the Parent Teacher Interviews last night.
As you prepare for Term 2 with your child, what feedback did teachers share that you could work on with your child to help their continued progress?
HARMONY WEEK
Last week, we celebrated Harmony Week, which recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds.
Our school turned a sea of orange last Friday as students and staff united together to promote this important theme.
EASTER BONNET PARADE
Just a reminder, we have our P-2 Easter Bonnet Parade on tomorrow morning at 9am in the hall. This is a standing event and we ask that parents observe from the areas outlined in the map, attached. Please keep entries and exits clear and if you are to take photos, please do not post pictures of other students to social media.
QUEENSLAND ENGAGEMENT AND WELLBEING SURVEY
In Term 2, students in Years 5 and 6 will be asked to take part in the Queensland Engagement and Wellbeing (QEW) Survey.
We know that wellbeing and engagement are important parts of your child’s life at school. The QEW Survey is designed to measure how students view their wellbeing and engagement across different topics. The information we get from the survey helps us better understand and support our students.
An information letter will be sent out to parents and carers closer to the time. If you have any questions, please contact the school. More information, including FAQs, can be found on the Education website: (https://qed.qld.gov.au/publications/reports/statistics/schooling/students/queensland-engagement-wellbeing-survey).

The green collection bins for plastic drink bottles are located at each eating area around the school. Please feel free to bring in containers to recycle. Alternatively, if you want to take your containers directly to a recycler and send your refund to the school – use the code C11011831
