OUTDOOR CLASSROOM CONCEPT DESIGN
Our P&C has been actively fundraising to support the development of an Outdoor Learning Classroom for our students. The ‘classroom’ will be positioned running adjacent to the library block and will provide multiple seating areas/tables, shade and interactive facilities for classes to use as an alternative to indoor classrooms. The following designs are shared as visual concepts of what the space may look like. Accessibility has been considered in the design to make it suitable for students of all ages and accessibility needs. This is a substantial project being spearheaded by our P&C and your help with the selling of tickets for the MEGA Raffle will be key in making this space available for our students. All going to plan, we look to commence work in the later parts of this year.

ATTENDANCE
At Wondall Heights State School we know students need to attend school regularly to achieve success in engagement and learning. Regular non-attendance has a significant impact on a student’s academic achievement, as well as their ability to make and sustain relationships with their peers.
School staff are required to monitor attendance and punctuality. School absenteeism is monitored closely and regular contact will be made if high levels of absenteeism are detected or whereby patterns are detected (e.g. siblings having identical absences or regular pattern in days being absent).
As always, if there is anything the school can do to support you getting your children to school, please let us know.
REPORTING PROCESS
Semester One reports will be emailed home to parents on Wednesday 19 June. This semester you will receive an overview of your child’s learning in class for English and Mathematics and a personalised goal in those subjects.
We have also updated our Behaviour and Effort rubric which has been uploaded to our website- curriculum folder. Behaviour refers to the individual behaviours demonstrated by your child aligned to our school expectations of Safe, Respectful and Responsible. Effort, refers to their self-application to learning tasks.
CARPARK SAFETY
To help ensure the safety of all of our community members we ask that pedestrians DO NOT cut through the school carparks, particularly the two carparks controlled by the boom gates. Please enter our school grounds via the designated pedestrian gates along Wondall Road.
LEARNING CELEBRATION – TERM 2
UNDER EIGHT’S DAY
Our annual Under 8’s Day will occur on Thursday 20 June 2024 from 9:00-10:30am. Please save the date and spread the word far, we would love to see parents and future Wondall students attend. On the morning there will be lots of activities for children and even a food stand for parents!
Do you have a younger sibling ready to start Prep next year?
or
Do you know of family/friends/neighbours that have children who live in the Wondall Heights SS school catchment zone ready to start Prep in 2025?
If you do… we are putting a call out to enrol your child at Wondall Heights State School ASAP so they don’t miss out on invitations to our exciting transition events, some of which are occurring in the next few weeks!
Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL- WONDALL LEARNERS RESPECT OTHERS’ LEARNING
At Wondall we believe all students have a right to learn, to feel safe and be supported at school. Over the next fortnight, our teachers will be exploring with students what this means in regards to ‘Respecting others’ learning in the classrooms.’
QParents
From next term, the Department of Education is updating the process used by schools for invoicing for school activities such as incursions and excursions. The new process will require consent to be completed via QParents for these activities before the school invoices families. This term we will be working through how this process will look for Wondall. In the meantime, we have been contacting families who have not yet registered for QParents to offer support to do this. Thank you to all of our families who have been signing up and are beginning to use QParents.
The following information is available to parents in QParents:
- Attendance details
- Upcoming events
- Report cards
- Invoices and payment history
- Consent
The benefits of using QParents includes
- Greater transparency with online access to your child’s information
- Ease of viewing and updating your child’s details including address and medical conditions
- Anytime, anywhere access on a smartphone, tablet or computer
- Access to the latest information in one centralised place
- Improved administration efficiencies and reduced printing and mail outs
At Wondall Heights State School, we work closely with a number of local kindergartens and early education providers to communicate our Prep Transition Programs for the following year. We appreciate their support of Wondall and have offered to advertise their programs also.
Thank you to the following kindergartens and early education providers for sending through information, as below.

Students can help the environment and our school by recycling their plastic water bottles. Green bins are placed around the school and these are for recycling water bottles ONLY. Each recycled bottle is worth 10 cents to our school – and all of those 10 cents add up!
The green collection bins for plastic drink bottles are located at each eating area around the school. Please feel free to bring in containers to recycle. Alternatively, if you want to take your containers directly to a recycler and send your refund to the school – use the code C11011831
