DOUGIE’S KITCHEN

2025 SCHOOL INTENTIONS
We are commencing our planning for 2025 classes and it is appreciated if you can notify the office ASAP if your family is NOT returning to Wondall in 2025 (current Prep-Year 5 students only). 3906 6444 or admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au
Our waitlist is open with some availability across year levels, so please let your friends know if they are looking at Wondall for 2025, to make contact now!
TERM 4 SWIMMING
Swimming lessons commence for all Prep-Year 6 students, Week 2 of next term, during your child’s HPE Lesson. Please note swimming lessons are part of the school curriculum and as a result all students are expected to participate fully in these lessons. If your child is unable to swim for a lesson, a note explaining student’s absence is required. Students who this applies to, will then be directed to another classroom for supervision during the pool lesson. It is important that your child attends their scheduled swimming time, so we can best support water competence and safety for all. The school pool is heated, so the water temperature will always be comfortable for swimming, enabling for an enjoyable experience for your child.
Now would also be a great time to check that your child has the required equipment for lessons:
- Swimmers, sun shirt (short or long sleeve), swimming cap (they will be provided with a red swimming cap as well for extra visibility). Please avoid dark coloured/blue items of clothing for the pool- the brighter the better!
Again, we are urgently requesting volunteers please, as without your help these lessons can not be conducted. Parents will be required to complete the MAST induction, if they have not already done so. If not a parent, in addition to this you will also require a blue card.
If helping we would prefer you assist for the duration of the session if possible either morning session 8.50am – 10.50am, middle session 11.30am-1.00pm or afternoon session 1.50-2.50pm. This is to assist with the smooth transitioning of each swimming lesson. We will have helpers in and out of the water, so please specify if not able to be in the water. Recommended attire for helpers, long sleeve shirt, shorts over togs, hats and lots of sunscreen. Please see below the schedule where help is required.
Please note that active supervision of our swimmers will be required at all times. Unfortunately, this means that younger siblings will not be permitted to attend. Only children who are scheduled for their swimming lesson will be allowed to enter the pool. We appreciate your understanding with this request.
If you are able to assist, could you please send Mrs Butterworth an email (ybutt1@eq.edu.au) ASAP of your availability to help.
Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to a wonderful term of swimming.
EVENT RECAP
WASABI KIDS INCURSION
Through interactive puppets, set design, audience participation and a very talented solo performer, students in Prep-Year 6 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Wasabi Kids Performance last week. Right across the school the laughing could be heard, followed by excited chatter seeing this performance as a hit and a great cultural experience! Thanks to Sensei Barnes for organising this for our students.
PERFORMANCE AFTERNOON
It was fantastic to share the amazing talents of our band, choirs and dance students with families last Thursday. We extend our thanks to the staff who have led these groups throughout the year to allow such experiences to happen.
Stay tuned for more information about our end of year performance.
R U OK? Day
Whilst officially recognised tomorrow, last Friday our students and staff were encouraged to wear yellow and ask the key question R U OK?
Thanks to all who participated in our Walk to School event and wore yellow.
R U OK? Is calling on all of us to let the people you care about know you’re here, to really hear them. By taking the time for an R U Ok? conversation and genuinely listening with an open mind, we can all help the people in our world feel supported and connected.
