Teaching and Learning

School Improvement Agenda for 2020 will focus on:

  • Australian Curriculum and Moderation processes
  • Effective pedagogy to engage students
  • Creative and Critical Thinking

Each year level will have a moderation session with the Leadership Team during week 9 or 10.  Our moderation process aligns curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting.  Each year level moderation provides consistency of delivery of the curriculum and assessment and A-E achievement.

Moderation is also an opportunity for Teachers and the Leadership to celebrate the success of student learning and to reflect on our teaching practices.

All Teachers will attend a Twilight session on Wednesday; the focus will be on Term 4 curriculum, planning and assessment.

Student safety is our number one priority at Wondall Heights SS.  Some parents have raised concerns for the safety of students in the drop off/pick up zone.

Please keep in mind that children should be entering on the left hand side of the car.  School bags should be put in the cabin of the car; it’s dangerous for children to walk behind the car to put bags in the boot.

Drop off / pick up zone please note the following guidelines when using the zone:

  • The drop off zone is strictly no parking.
  • Parents dropping their children off in the morning are asked to drop their children at the drop off zone and move on.

If you wish to use the pickup zone in the afternoon, we ask you do the following:

  • Stay in your car.
  • Teach your child/ren how to do up their seat belts.
  • Move baby capsules to the right hand side of the car so we can enter children safely in the left hand side.  Children are not to walk out onto the road to enter the car on the right hand side.
  • Have your child’s name on paper on your sun visor to assist us to call children.
  • We will put school bags on the right hand side front seat, please have the window open.  Do not get out of the car to put bags in the boot.

P and C - Father’s Day Stall

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who manned the Fathers’ Day Stall to help children pick out the perfect gift for their fathers.

A very special thank you to Sarah Wilson for organising the stall, you did a great job!

I hope all of our fathers and grandfathers had a wonderful day on Sunday.

Quote of the week…

The tragedy of life is not so much what men suffer, but rather what they miss. Thomas Carlyle

Have a great week and enjoy the holidays when they arrive.  School will start back on Tuesday 6 October.
