CyberSafety
Last week our students in Years 5 and 6 participated in cybersafety talks. The focus of these sessions delivered by Cybersafety and Reputation Branch of the Department of Education was about the use of social media and appropriate behaviours when online.
It is important for all of us to consider protective behaviours online and particularly, what we put on the internet can become a permanent record. Parents are encouraged to set firm guidelines around their child’s use of the internet. For additional information on cybersafety we suggest visiting the eSafety website - https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents .
The following pictorial is a good one for all of us to think about when we are interacting online.
Parents are encouraged to monitor their children are accessing online. Some of the games have built in chat functions and many of the main social media pages- Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok have age restrictions (generally 13 years old).
P&C Meeting
Thank you to the parents and community members who attended the P&C meeting last night. It was great to hear from our parent body and the suggestions to helping our school continue to improve.
Track Carnivals
On Thursday and Friday students will be cheering for their fellow house members participating in athletics races. Students are able to wear their house colour shirts on their carnival day.

Let’s celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday 30 October
We are thanking our amazing Wondall Heights teachers this World Teachers’ Day on Friday 30 October. Students and parents can get involved in the celebrations. Perhaps send your teacher a certificate or thank you card or maybe make your own celebratory paper bunting.
There are lots of ideas to get involved on the website www.worldteachersday.com.au
Let us know how you are celebrating this important day by using our social media hashtag #ThanksQldTeachers.

2021 Booklists
The 2021 Booklist for Wondall Heights State School has been emailed to Parents/Carers. We have generated the booklists through a local company, S.O.S - School & Office Supplies, who can provide a pick-up/delivery option, should you wish to order before 6 November 2020. You may also wish to take the list to another stationery provider. To order the booklists online, you will need to go to the S.O.S website at www.schoolandoffice.com.au and click on the BOOKPACKS link. Further ordering instructions can be found in the booklist. A copy of the booklists will also be made available on the school’s website. The items on the list are the requirements for the 2021 classes. Some items may be able to be reused from previous years (eg. headphones / whiteboards), depending on the end of year condition. Teachers will endeavour to send any guaranteed surplus items home in the next few weeks, also for possible use next year.
All items on the list need to be clearly named and sent to school on the first day of 2021.
PREP TRANSISITON VIDEO
In light of COVID-19, we have had restrictions placed on who enters the school grounds, in order to keep our students and school community safe. As we have not been able to provide tours to our future prep families, we have made a Prep Transition Video to showcase what a day in the life of a prep student looks like. Thank you to Mr Palmer for his wonderful work on this and thank you to our featured prep students… very cute!!

PREP ORIENTATION SESSIONS
The next event will be our Prep Orientation sessions held 23-27 November. In these sessions, our future 2021 Prep students will join a prep classroom one morning to experience what it feels like to be in Prep. Parents will join the leadership team once more to learn tips and tricks for getting children ready for Prep, as well as have a chance to purchase uniforms etc. We will send out invites to families who have enrolled in early November.
School Resumes in 2021
For audit purposes, it is vital we have correct enrolment numbers at the commencement of the 2021 school year. If you will be returning later than the school start date (eg- away on holiday), please contact the office to complete a Day 8 returning form.
2021 Classes and Teachers
The Leadership Team, support staff and class teachers will work together to place students in a class for next year. Staff have deep knowledge of students, their needs and supports with class placements.
Please note we will not take requests for particular teachers. A new class and a new teacher is an opportunity for children to make new friends and to have new learning experiences.
