NAIDOC Week

Last week our school celebrated NAIDOC Week. Students had the opportunity to watch our Indigenous Dancers perform and, in their classes, engaged with cultural activities. As a whole school, our classes have created two serpents which will be proudly displayed on our fence.

National Road Safety Week

This week is National Road Safety Week and is a timely reminder to share the importance of safe driving. Wondall Road is a busy one and we know that pick up and drop off times see a particular increase in vehicle traffic around the school. Remember to stick to the speed limits and give yourself plenty of time to travel. If you are held up at pick up time, don’t worry, we will keep your children safe!

Carpark Gathering

We remind families, that the school carparks should not be used as a waiting space. The carparks should remain clear of pedestrians to allow safe movement of vehicles. If these are nominated meeting points for your children, please consider other options.

Track Carnival P-2

Prep to Yr 2 track carnival is planned for this Thursday 19 November 2020.  Students are welcome to wear their house colour shirts on track day. Due to COVID restrictions parents and carers are unable to attend this event.

Returning of School Resources

As the school year draws to a close, please check your bookshelves at home for any school library or general resources. Please return these to the school ASAP, so we can prepare for end of year stocktaking.

Prep Transitioning

Prep Orientation Sessions will be held next week, 23-27 November.  We look forward to spending time with our new preps.

Just a reminder that Wondall Heights state school is collecting Transition Statements to help us best support your child in Prep in 2021. Parents will need to provide consent to Kindergartens for the Transition Statements to be shared. Transition Statements can be emailed to the school directly to admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au or brought directly to the school office.

For more information around Prep Transition Statements, please read the attached brochure or access the following website.

Medication

Remember to collect your child's medication from school before the holidays begin and store them correctly at home.  Learn more about storage of medications such as asthma inhalers and adrenaline auto-injectors (for example EpiPens) NPS Medicinewise website.

You should also check the expiry dates before bringing medications back to school after the holidays.
