DITTO Performance
On Wednesday 17 February, our Prep – Year 3 students experienced Bravehearts’ personal safety education program Ditto’s Keep Safe Adventure Show. Amongst other things, children learnt three key messages:
- We all have the right to feel safe with people.
- It’s okay to say NO if you feel unsafe or unsure.
- Nothing is so yucky that you can’t tell someone about it.
Thank you to Bravehearts and the Wondall Heights State School P&C for supporting this important experience for our students.
Prep Parent Reading Information Sessions
Next Friday 5 March Mrs Abbot and Mrs Hills will be offering information sessions on ‘supporting your child’s literacy development and helping your child to read’ to our Prep parents. Please see the information flyer attached. Limited spaces are available via the SOBs booking system accessed through the school’s website. Should the two sessions fill, we will offer a third session. We hope to see our Prep parents there!
NAPLAN Online 2021
Wondall Heights State School is completing NAPLAN Online again this year. Students will participate in a NAPLAN School Readiness Test (SRT) on Thursday 25th March 2021 prior to the actual NAPLAN tests in May. The SRT is a familiarisation activity to help confirm each school’s technical, student and staff readiness. The SRT provides our students with the opportunity to engage in the NAPLAN platform prior to the actual NAPLAN tests in May. If you do not wish your child to participate in the SRT or NAPLAN in May please contact the office.

- Responding to messages and friend requests
- Cyberbullying and standing up for friends online
- Responding to negative online content
- How to handle yourself if you're having a difficult time online.
If you DO NOT wish your child to participate in this FREE presentation, please advise your child's class teacher via email.
How you can learn more
We encourage parents to continue the cyber safety conversation with your child, using the online tools provided below to help cement the safety messages. It is important for all of us to consider protective behaviours online and particularly, what we put on the internet can become a permanent record. Parents are encouraged to set firm guidelines around their child’s use of the internet. For additional information on cyber safety we suggest visiting the eSafety website.
The following pictorial is a good one for all of us to think about when we are interacting online.
Also, make sure you are aware of what your children are accessing online. Some of the games have built in chat functions and many of the main social media pages- Facebook, Instagram, twitter and tiktok have age restrictions (generally 13 years old).
2021 Religion Times
Religious Instruction will commence in Week 6. At this stage, students with permissions will participate in one 30-minute lesson per fortnight. Years 3-6 lessons will occur fortnightly on a Tuesday. Years 1-2 lessons will occur fortnightly on a Wednesday. These times may be subject to change.
Children's Medication
If your child takes medication on a regular basis at home, please advise the school office so your child's medical conditions/medications are recorded in case of an emergency.
