Bullying No Way!
On Friday 19 March students and staff are encouraged to wear orange clothing or accessories as a sign of our commitment to ‘National Day against bullying’. Staff will be discussing with students what bullying is, how they can prevent it and what to do if they are concerned. Please ensure that any clothing/items worn are sun safe and appropriate to be worn at school (no inappropriate language, enclosed shoes etc). The following poster is a great one to use when discussing incidents with students:

Prep Incursion
On Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 March, our Prep students worked with Aimee and Jane from Moreton Environmental Educational Centre to go on a bug hunt. First, we were shown how to safely use the net trays and the bug catchers. Then we went and explored the trees and bushes to see what we could find. Some of the minibeasts were hard to catch, but when everyone had one, we went to the lab to observe them. We drew them and counted their legs, this helped us identify what they were. Next, we used the microscopes to have a closer look at other minibeasts. The jewelled beetle was very popular with its shimmering green colour, so was the scorpion with its sharp tail. Finally, we took our minibeasts back to the garden to release them, making sure they could get some water, food and shelter to survive another day.
NAPLAN Online
Wondall Heights State School will be participating in NAPLAN Online this year. Students will participate in a NAPLAN School Readiness Test (SRT) on Thursday 25th March 2021 prior to the actual NAPLAN tests in May. The SRT is a familiarisation activity to help confirm each school’s technical, student and staff readiness. The SRT provides our students with the opportunity to engage in the NAPLAN platform prior to the actual NAPLAN tests in May. If you do not wish your child to participate in the SRT or NAPLAN in May please contact the office.
