Report Cards were sent home in Week 10 of Term 2. If you didn’t get your child’s report, please check your junk folders and then contact the office.

School Priorities

As we reach the half way point of the school year, we share again our school priorities which help drive our student improvement agenda within the school. School staff will be focussed on both curriculum and wellbeing development.

School Opinion Survey

The annual suite of School Opinion Surveys will be conducted in Term 3 and will close on 30 July 2021. All families, school staff and students in target year levels (5 & 6) will be invited to participate. We encourage you to take this opportunity to have your say about what our school does well, and how we can continue to improve.

An invitation to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey will be emailed to one parent/caregiver per family in the week beginning 5 July.  The invitation will be sent from the Department of Education, not the school, and it will have the subject line School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2021.  Check your junk email folders if you can’t find it.  The survey can be completed as soon as the invitation is received and will take approximately 5 minutes using a computer, tablet or smart phone.

Parents/caregivers who do not have access to the internet at home are welcome to complete their survey online at the school. School computers/tablets will be available.

Parent Representative School Board

As an Independent Public School (IPS), our school has both a School Council and a P&C association. The School Council is comprised of the Principal, P&C President, 2 staff members and 2 parents. With the term of appointment of several of the current council members coming to an end, nominations will soon be sought from parents interested in nomination. Please keep an eye out for this information in the coming weeks.

How does the role of a School Council differ from that of a P&C Association?

The School Council has an accountability role and is responsible for informing and monitoring the school’s strategic direction. Members are responsible for approving strategic documents that set the direction, culture and tone of the school.

The P&C Association has a support and advice role and is responsible for school fundraising activities.

The Independent Public Schools initiative does not impact on the functions of P&C Associations.

Before School Procedures

We ask that all families support our before school procedures as listed below:

  • Students are encouraged not to arrive before 8:30am.
  • On arrival students are to either wait in front of the office or in the Arena area (from 8:30am).
  • Please do not gather outside classrooms or allow children to play on play equipment outside of school hours.

Respectful Behaviour in Car Park

A reminder around respectful behaviours on the roads surrounding our school and particularly in the Stop, Drop and Go. This area is not a waiting area and we ask drivers to respect the direction of staff. They are there supervising to help your children get home safe! For users, please also help the process by having a piece of paper with your child’s surname on the left-hand sun visor.

If you see illegal or unsafe activities or interactions please report these immediately to the appropriate agencies (police/council). Thanks for your support in making our school community safe.

Winter Clothing

With the chilly breezes settling in, don’t forget to send your child with a school jumper/trackpants as necessary but ensure they are labelled with your child’s name so they can make them back to them if forgotten. Lost property is stored near the Tuckshop area throughout the term.

Under Eights Day

Under Eights Day was a great success and lots of fun was had by all students and staff, including our Pre-Prep visitors from Goodstart Wondall Road and Busy Bees. Thank you to families who came and supported us on the day, we hope you enjoyed the session.

We would also like to thank Brisbane Bayside SC and Wynnum SHS for helping run activities; the Police and Fire services for being in attendance and showing us their vehicles; and Joan Pease MP and Ross Vasta MP for donating goodies and prizes.

Congratulations Tyler in Year 2 for winning the Lucky Door Prize!

Notice of Intention to Attend Wondall Heights State School in 2022

We are currently looking at Wondall Heights State School’s planning needs for the 2022 school year. Part of this planning is considering the number of students we will have enrolled in the school. If your child is of Prep age for the 2022 school year and you are considering enrolling your child at Wondall Heights State School, can you please let us know by contacting our school office. This expression of interest is not binding, school catchment area and enrolment requirements still apply. Expressions of interest to enrol at Wondall assist us with forward planning to make 2022 as successful as possible for all our students.

 Enrolment Process

Enrol_image.jpg

In catchment students can currently enrol at the office during office opening hours.

Out-of-catchment students can join the waiting list, please contact the office.

Prep Enrolment Sessions will consist of a group interview where parents will be presented with information and asked to fill in questionnaires whilst their children interact with our teachers, in a group setting. The new format is designed to create a sense of community and for children and families to meet and establish connections in preparation for 2022. This format will also allow our staff to spend more time getting to know your children and to observe their interactions with other children. More information about this process will be provided to families next term when booking an interview.

Please share this information with family and friends living in the catchment area!
