Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL Focus Term 2 Weeks 5 and 6 – Responsible
Our PBL focus for Weeks 5 and 6 is, ’Wondall Learners are Responsible for their own learning.’ The objective is to increase student focus and on task behaviour in order for students to maximise their learning time.
Students participated in group discussions about the importance of maximizing learning time to it’s fullest and ways to increase their on task behaviours within the classroom. They watched a video where the characters were not displaying responsible learning behaviours. Students identified these behaviours and explain their adverse effects. As a class students created a Y chart to describe what an independent learner looks like, sounds like, feels like. Some guiding questions were: What would an on-task learner look like? What does the learning environment sound like if everyone is being responsible for their learning? What does it feel like when you have done your best and accomplished a task?
When students demonstrate the strategies that enable them to be responsible independent learners, they will be rewarded with Dougie Stamps towards the Dougie celebration.
