What a change in the weather! After weeks of rain, finally some sunshine but that chill factor can happily go away! Don’t forget to label all items of winter clothing so it can easily be returned. Our students are very excited to be back on the playgrounds and ovals which have now dried up!
National Reconciliation Week
27 May-3 June marks National Reconciliation Week with the 2022 theme, “Be Brave. Make Change.” This is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.
This year we are asking everyone to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives – where they live, work, play and socialise.
At Wondall Heights SS our students will participate in classroom activities throughout the week to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Well Done P&C
Over the last fortnight our P&C hosted two events- the Election BBQ and Bake Stall and the Mother’s Day event. Firstly, a big thank you to organisers of these events and all parents who supported. Secondly, congratulations on over $4 700 raised which will go towards supporting the students of our school.
Semester 1 Report Cards
Report Cards will be emailed home on Wednesday 22 June. Please ensure your email address on our school records is correct. If you need to update your email- admin@wondallheightsss.eq.edu.au
Neighbourhood Parking
Whilst we recognise pick up and drop off is a busy time around our school, we do ask that drivers are considerate to our neighbours in relation to parking across/blocking driveways. Please check that when you are parking your car in the neighbouring streets, that the driveway remains clear for the home owners.
Under Eights Day
We are excited to hold our Under Eights Day on Thursday 23 June. This year, we welcome Bunnings Warehouse, Wynnum State High School, Brisbane Bayside State College and the police and fire services, as well as our own staff to host a range of fun activities out on our junior oval. Parent and carers are welcome to attend – if any parents have a special talent and would love to run an activity, please email Sarah Abbot – sabbo6@eq.edu.au.
Wondall Athletics Track Carnival
Our track athletics carnival will be held on Thursday 16 June with all P-6 students participating in track events throughout the day. All students will need to wear their sports or house colour shirts and will need hats, water bottles and sunscreen applied.
A general timetable for the day will be:

12:00-1:00 – Years 2-3
