School Attendance
At Wondall Heights State School we know students need to attend school regularly to achieve success in engagement and learning. Regular non-attendance has a significant impact on a student’s academic achievement, as well as their ability to make and sustain relationships with their peers. Regular absences can lead to anxiety and stress, which in turn can lead to further absence.
School staff set an example for students by encouraging attendance and punctuality. School absenteeism is monitored closely and regular contact will be made if high levels of absenteeism are detected.
In 2022 school year, Wondall Heights State School had an average attendance rate of 88.7%. This year, we have been speaking to the students about being ACE (Attend, Confident, Engaged) students and the importance of attending school each day. It is wonderful to see the improvement in our overall attendance data, with the Wondall’s attendance rate sitting at 93.7% as at the end of April. Well done Wondall!
National Volunteer Week
We thank all of our parents and grandparents who help out in our classrooms, with sporting, extracurricular and excursion events. Our children have a real sense of pride to see their family members helping out. If you ever have time available, please reach out to your child’s teacher who can advise how you too, can support!

National Sorry Day - 26 May 2023
Every year on 26 May, National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’.
National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation. While this date carries great significance for the Stolen Generations and other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, it is also commemorated by Australians right around the country.
