Exciting News!
Following the positive feedback from our P-2 teachers who attended Sounds-Write training earlier this term, we have extended the Professional Development training in Synthetic Phonics to include our Years 3-6 teachers. This will take place over Semester 2 and early into next year. We have also prioritised our growing collection of decodable readers to support our early years and build confidence for older readers who haven’t yet fully grasped the code for reading, and will be doubling the books we have purchased in 2022-23. This has been a significant investment for our school in resourcing and building the capacity of our teachers. We are looking forward to the positive impact that the implementation of Sounds-Write will have across our school moving forward.
Reporting Process
Semester One reports will be emailed home to parents on Wednesday 21 June. This semester you will receive for English and Mathematics an overview of your child’s learning in class and a personalised goal in those subjects.
We have also updated our Behaviour and Effort rubric which has been uploaded to our website- curriculum folder. Behaviour refers to the individual behaviours demonstrated by your child aligned to our school expectations of Safe, Respectful and Responsible.
Effort, refers to their self-application to learning tasks.
School Review
Every Queensland state school is reviewed by the School and Region Reviews (SRR) branch at least once every 4 years. The reviews play an important part in how the department supports school improvement. They provide schools with independent feedback, tailored to their context and needs.
Our school is scheduled to have our next review in Week 1 of Term 3, from Wednesday-Friday.
During the review period a team of educators will visit our school to meet with school staff, student leaders, parents and community members. During the review period you may be approached at school by a reviewer to get your feedback on our school. I encourage you to chat with the reviewers and share your thoughts on our school and our next steps for continued improvement.

Carpark Safety
To help ensure the safety of all of our community members we ask that pedestrians DO NOT cut through the school carparks, particularly the two carparks controlled by the boom gates. Please enter our school grounds via the designated pedestrian gates along Wondall Road.
