Positive Behaviour for Learning
Our focus for the next two weeks is, ’Wondall Learners respect others when using kind words’. This objective aims to guide our students towards enhancing their respect for one another, especially among their peers. We want to emphasise that while feeling angry or frustrated is normal, it is our approach to managing these emotions that truly matters.
In class, students will:
- Discuss what respect looks like,
- choosing words that reflect kindness
- avoiding yelling when communicating with our peers
- being patient when interacting with our peers
- making your own choices and not controlling the choices of our peers
- listening to our peers and giving them space if they need it
- taking responsibility for mistakes made and apologising
- Active participation in role-play exercises, which allow students to navigate various scenarios and practise respectful behaviour;
- Discuss feelings associated with respectful behaviours and acknowledging moments when they have experienced kindness from their peers;
- Viewing a PBL video that showcases exemplar behaviour, providing students with a clear model of appropriate behaviours.
Students will continue to explore that being respectful means showing kindness and consideration to others. They will deepen their awareness of how respectful interactions involve refraining from using offensive language, name-calling, or hurtful words.
Our focus this fortnight is ‘Wondall Learners respect others by using kind and polite words.'
It is important to emphasise with our students that the tone we use, the volume we use and the words we use can affect others.
