NEW PLAY SPACE
We are excited to share, we have a new play space opening in our Prep-Year 2 space. We are building ‘mud kitchens’ for the students to enjoy creative play. This project has been supported with funding from our P&C. We look forward to this new space being available for our younger students in the coming weeks.
NATIONALLY CONSISTENT COLLECTION OF DATA (NCCD)Each year, all Australian schools engage in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD counts the number of students at school receiving adjustments due to disability and records the level of support they require. This includes students with social-emotional difficulties or learning difficulties like dyslexia as well as a broad range of other disabilities which impact on access to schooling. The Australian Government provides funding to schools to support these students based on the NCCD.
We are currently collating our data to ensure we comprehensively capture the needs of all students who benefit from additional support to access and participate in school life at Wondall. For more information on the NCCD, please refer to the attached fact sheet. As always, feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
YEAR 4-6 SPORTSTraditionally in Semester Two we have conducted Gala Day sports for Year 4-6 students. Unfortunately, following consultation with local schools who have been involved in the past, there are insufficient numbers to make our gala day model viable.
To address this and provide an offering to our students, with endorsement and support of our parent representatives at the P&C, we will be offering an alternative 5-week physical activity program featuring sports offered outside of the normal school opportunities. Local organisations are currently being canvassed for their interest and availability. More information will be sent to parents for these year levels, via a schoolzine.
SCHOOL OPINION SURVEYThe suite of School Opinion Surveys is undertaken each year by the Department of Education to obtain opinions about our school from families, school staff and students in target year levels (5, 6, 8 and 11). The surveys will help identify what we are doing well, and understand where we can improve. The survey invitation will be emailed in the week beginning 15 July and is titled School Opinion Survey for parents and caregivers, 2024.
Each school family will receive one email invitation from the Department of Education to complete the Parent/Caregiver Survey. The survey is anonymous, and the results are reported in ways that an individual’s response can not be identified by the school.
Parents/Caregivers are encouraged to complete the survey. The survey can be completed via computers, tablets or smart phones with an internet connection.
For Parents/Caregivers who do not have access to the internet school computers/tablets will be available. Parents/caregivers who experience difficulties accessing the survey can request a new survey from the School Opinion Survey team via email schoolopinionsurvey@qed.qld.gov.au.
Can’t find your invitation? If your family has more than one parent/caregiver, check that they haven’t received the invitation and/or check your junk email folder.
REMINDER BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL
A reminder and we ask for the support of all, playground use before and after school should not occur, even with parent supervision, as is the waiting outside classrooms (before school). Playground spaces are licenced to our Before and After School Care for their use at these times. Before school, students arriving before the bell are to wait at the front of the office and then move as directed by the supervising staff member to the Arena. As the bell approaches, students are released to move to their classes.
STAFF CARPARKS
Please do not cut through the carparks with boom gates within the school for entry or exit points as pedestrians- use the designated entry points. This is potentially making unsafe situations with cars using these spaces.
