National Reconciliation Week
Wondall Heights State School wishes to acknowledge National Reconciliation Week. This year theme is “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action”. Wondall is committed to delivering aspirational educational, economic and social outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to a culture of high expectations and pride ourselves on our responses to the needs of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student.
PBL Slime Making Day
On Monday 24 May, Wondall students who achieved 50 Dougie stamps for learning safely, respectfully and responsibly in class were rewarded with a special ‘Slime Making Day’. Students had fun making and creating their slime and decorating it with glitter and sequins. The feedback from students was very positive, they enjoyed the sessions and their creations! Thanks to Mrs Uhlmann, Mrs Nahvi and all staff for making this a fun and exciting day!
Students who didn’t earn their 50 Dougie stamps can continue to work towards our next rewards day in Week 10 by working safely, respectfully and responsibly.
Teaching and Learning
Each year level will have a moderation session with the Leadership Team during Week 8 or 9. Our moderation process involves teachers bringing student work samples that are then checked by other teachers to ensure correct grade allocation and alignment to Year Level Achievement Standards.
All Teachers will attend a Twilight session in Week 9, the focus will be on Term 3 curriculum, planning and assessment.
Report Cards
All report cards will be emailed home on Wednesday 23 June. Please ensure your email address on our school records is correct.
Curriculum Semester Overviews for Parents
Our Curriculum Semester Overviews for parents are emailed at the beginning of each semester. These documents provide detailed information on the curriculum that has been taught throughout the semester. Please refer to the overviews when reading the achievement standards on the report cards.
The Curriculum Semester Overviews are also available on the school website.

Notice of Intention to Attend Wondall Heights State School in 2022
We are currently looking at Wondall Heights State School’s planning needs for the 2022 school year. Part of this planning is considering the number of students we will have enrolled in the school. If your child is of Prep age for the 2022 school year and you are considering enrolment at Wondall Heights State School, can you please let us know your intentions by contacting the school. This is not binding and the catchment area and enrolment requirements still apply. The enrolment process will begin in Term 3, outlined below. This intention to enrol information is to assist us with forward planning to make 2022 as successful as possible for all our students.
Enrolment Process
In catchment students can currently enrol at the office during office opening hours.
Out-of-catchment students can join the waiting list, please contact the office.
A decision will be made for out-of-catchment enrolments in early Term 3, you will be invited to attend the Prep Enrolment Sessions in September if you are successful in securing a place at Wondall Heights State School.
Prep Enrolment Sessions will consist of a group interview where parents will be presented information and asked to fill in questionnaires whilst their children interact with our teachers, in a group setting. The new format is designed to create a sense of community and for children and families to meet and establish connections in preparation for 2022. This format will also allow our staff to spend more time getting to know your children and to observe their interactions with other children. More information about this process will be provided to families next term when booking an interview.
Please share this information with family and friends living in the catchment area!

Positive Behaviour for Learning
Our first Dougie Celebration was a roaring success! The students thoroughly enjoyed working with a friend to make slime at our surprise Slime Session. Some students were adventurous with their choice of colour and texture, while others preferred to 'stick' with the more traditional green, stretchy slime. It was wonderful to see the students working cooperatively with each other, following instructions and expectations, which ensured the event ran smoothly.
Everyone is very excited about our next mystery celebration session, which will occur in Week 10 of this term. Our PBL Team have some awesome plans in the works and it should be another great event. All students are well on their way to collecting their Dougie stamps, with 'Double Dougies' up for grabs for students displaying the focus behaviours each fortnight.
Our focus for the next fortnight will be 'Wondall Learners are SAFE when playing with others'. The aim is to encourage safe play on our playgrounds. Students will be explicitly taught what safe play looks, feels and sounds like, and our staff will have their Dougie Dollars at the ready for those demonstrating safe play.
Our whole school reward is well within our reach as we have already achieved 4155 Dougie Dollars of our 5000 Dougie Dollar goal! We, as a staff, are very proud of our students who are contributing to our target by demonstrating RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE and SAFE behaviour.
