About Religious Instruction
Queensland state schools embrace a multitude of cultural, religious and non-religious beliefs and encourage students to grow and develop as a whole person, in particular, in beliefs, values and attitudes. State schools respect the background and beliefs of all students and staff by not promoting, or being perceived as promoting, any particular set of beliefs in preference to another.
Queensland state schools provide religious instruction in accordance with Chapter 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (EGPA) and Part 5 of the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2017 (EGPR) by making available the provision of religious instruction to students (except Prep students) who are members of a faith group that has approval to deliver religious instruction at the school.
Religious instruction is not a curriculum or syllabus provided by the Department of Education. The department has no involvement in the selection of content for religious instruction, however, the principal is responsible for ensuring that the content of the religious instruction program does not contravene legislation or departmental policies.
The faith groups that operate at Wondall Heights SS are Christian faith groups. Religion is not compulsory and parents can choose to withdraw. Students who do not participate will be supervised in revision-based activities.

PREP ENROLMENTS 2023
Notice of Intention to Attend Wondall Heights State School in 2023
We are currently looking at Wondall Heights State School’s planning needs for the 2023 school year. Part of this planning is considering the number of students we will have enrolled in the school. If your child is of Prep age for the 2023 school year and you are considering enrolment at Wondall Heights State School, can you please let us know your intentions by contacting the school. This is not binding and the catchment area and enrolment requirements still apply. The enrolment process will begin in Term 3 and will be communicated shortly. This intention to enrol information, is to assist us with forward planning to make 2023 as successful as possible for all our students.
Enrolment Process
In catchment students can currently enrol at the office during office opening hours.
Out-of-catchment students can join the waiting list, please contact the office.
A decision will be made for out-of-catchment enrolments in Term 3, you will be invited to attend the Prep Enrolment Sessions in September if you are successful in securing a place at Wondall Heights State School.
Prep Enrolment Sessions will consist of a group interview where parents will be presented information and asked to fill in questionnaires whilst their children interact with our teachers, in a group setting. From there, enrolled 2023 Prep children will be invited to multiple orientation days where they will meet our Prep staff, use our Prep spaces and begin to become familiar with each other. This Prep transition process is vital in preparing your child for a great start to school!
Please share this information with family and friends living in the catchment area!

Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL Focus Weeks 1 and 2 – Resilience
Our PBL focus for Weeks 1 and 2 is, ‘Wondall Learners are Resilient when they bounce back from challenges.’ Resilience is the ability to bounce back after a fall. Being a resilient person means to rebound, to come back to a positive position and recover your strength. Resilience means that you spring back and don’t let unhappy experiences keep you down. Challenges are part of life.
Some discussion points that will be covered during the fortnight are:
- Challenges and setbacks happen to us all. What can we do when we are faced with challenges or setbacks?
- Have you been really upset or angry because you were not successful or as good as you thought you would be? Students explained the challenge and reactions.
- Positive self-talk strategies when faced with challenges.
At Wondall we reinforce that challenges are part of life and they help us to learn and grow.
