P&C ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The P&C are holding their AGM on Tuesday 14 March at 6pm in the WOSHC Building. All of the elected positions- President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer are declared vacant and we welcome nominations. Our P&C does amazing things for our school community and we sincerely thank them for their dedication to our school. Even if you don’t want an elected position, any bit of help you can offer, benefits your children, our students here at Wondall, so please get involved.
We know that there are great benefits both for our students and volunteers when parents and caregivers are able to support our school activities, for example reading groups, in the tuckshop, on excursions or with swimming.
If you have some available time to support our school, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher to let them know you are keen to support.
Volunteers are also required to read the Mandatory Training Key Messages Guide for Visitors/Volunteers, once in the year, outlining key messages for Working Ethically, Working Safely, Working Together and Protecting Information.
To volunteer the following process is required:
- Sign in and out at the office.
- Sign off that you have read our Mandatory Training for visitors/volunteers (this will be provided on sign in at the office).
- Younger siblings will not be able to attend with volunteers.
Parents with students enrolled in our school do not require a blue card, but anyone else is required to have one (e.g.-grandparents).

PERSONAL ITEMS
We request that students do not bring personal items including toys, sporting equipment, gaming cards etc to school. During our breaks we have plenty of items for students to be able to use and access. When personal items are brought to the school they can be damaged, lost and can also create conflict between students. Thanks for reinforcing this with your children.
LEARNING CELEBRATIONS
Parents are invited to visit their children’s classrooms on Wednesday 22 March between 2:30pm-3pm. Each class will have something different to share, but students will be highlighting their learning from this term!
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Interviews will be held on Tuesday, 28 March, from 3:30pm – 8:00pm in the Hall. Entry to interviews will be via the foyer and exit via the opposite side (carpark side).
There is no supervision provided for children.
Bookings will be via SOBS (our online booking system) from Monday, 13 March 6am and will close Sunday, 26 March at 6pm. SOBs can be accessed via the school’s website or the link below.
HARMONY WEEK
Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. This year Harmony Week is celebrated 20-26 March 2023.
It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
We invite our school community to wear an ORANGE shirt or accessory on Friday 24 March and to join us at our Harmony Week Park’n’Stride.
SAFE SCHOOL TRAVEL
We want all of our students to be safe whilst in the community and the following are some awareness prompts that you could discuss with your children to support them on their travels to and from school:
- Walking/riding with a friend rather than alone
- Making sure they have a designated route of travel
- Not to stop on their way to school/home or make any changes to your agreed plans
- Check their surroundings- lighting, traffic, walking on footpaths etc
- What to do if they are approached by an unknown person
- Teach them how to identify features if they are approached- car colour, type, the gender of the person, their clothing etc
- What to do if they feel unsafe
Ensure that any concerns around public safety are reported to Police.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
PBL Focus Weeks 7 and 8 – Right Place, Right Time
Our focus for the next two weeks is:
Wondall Learners are SAFE when they are in the Right Place at the Right Time.
The objective of this focus is to:
- Provide a shared understanding of the out of bounds areas of our school.
- To see and understand why a knowledge of these areas keeps students safe.
- To decrease the number of occasions students are in out of bounds areas.
In class students will explore these concepts through brain storming activities and class discussions.
Class discussion would explicitly cover the following points:
- The meaning of ‘out of bounds’
- What it looks like?
- Where are they in our community?
- Why do we have these areas in our school to keep us safe.?
- Where are these out of bounds areas in our school?
- Who can you ask if unsure of where out of bounds areas are located?
